Waiver of formal competitive bidding, and approval of and authorization to purchase 28 Taser Conducted Electrical Weapons (CEW’s), model X2, with accessories from Axon, formally Taser International, a sole source vendor

Background:
The Police Department is requesting that the City accept the quote from Axon for the purchase of 28 Taser X2’s with accessories. The Taser X2’s are being purchased as replacements for aging Taser 26’s, which are being discontinued by the manufacturer. Axon is a sole source vendor and manufacturer of the Taser X2’s. A copy of the sole source letter is attached.
Funding has been appropriated and in the Police Department Budget in the amount of $36,000.00. Staff recommends that the City Council approve the purchase of the Taser’s.
Cost: $35,999.13
