Background:
The Headworks Improvements project at the Lynn Lane Wastewater Treatment Plant consists of a new structure that will house wastewater screening, grit removal, raw sewage pumping, and foul air treatment operations. After an evaluation of available grit removal technologies, free vortex-type grit removal equipment was selected for the improvements project due in part to its high removal rate of fine grit particles. The various grit removal technologies require different flow geometries for the raw sewage. For this reason, the facility was designed around free vortex grit removal equipment. In order to ensure that the supplied grit removal equipment would be compatible with the rest of the new facility, a pre-purchase bid of the grit removal equipment was conducted. The contract for the supply of the grit removal equipment will be assigned to the General Contractor who will construct the Headworks Improvements project.
The Grit Removal Equipment pre-purchase was advertised for bids on June 14, 2017 and June 21, 2017. Bids were opened on July 18, 2017 and one (1) bid was received. The bid was responsive. The Certified Bid Tabulation is attached. The lowest responsible bidder was Eutek Systems, Inc. dba Hydro International Wastewater, with a bid of $695,220.00. The engineer's estimate was $675,000.00. Staff recommends awarding the Bid in the amount of $695,220.00 to Eutek Systems, Inc. dba Hydro International Wastewater.
