Background:
The attached Certificate of Recognition, if approved, will declare the month of July as National Parks and Recreation Month in the City of Broken Arrow. The U.S. House of Representatives has designated July as National Parks and Recreation Month because of the benefits derived from parks and recreation resources throughout the United States.

This year's theme is "Get Your Play On". The Broken Arrow Parks and Recreation Department will be having activities throughout the month of July to celebrate National Parks and Recreation Month. The activities are as follows:

* Kick Board Day - On July 1st the Recreation Division will be handing out free kick boards to the first 80 children at Family Aquatic Center. Pool opens at 11am.
* Bird Hike - Come out to the Ray Harral Nature Park for a 10am guided bird hike on July 13th and 14th. This activity is free and great for all ages.
* Dodgeball Tournament - Join us on July 20th at Central Park Community Center for a FREE dodgeball tournament for ages 12 and up. Registration begins at 5pm and play starts at 6:30pm.
* Nienhuis Treasure Hunt - Check out the Nienhuis Park Community Center Facebook page every day during the week of July 24-28 for clues. Participants will hunt for a golden ticket hidden somewhere in Nienhuis Park. Winners receive recreation type equipment, like a tennis racket, basketball, a Frisbee for disc golf, and many other items.

More information can be found on the Broken Arrow City website or check out our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/BAParksandRec.
