title Approval of and authorization to declare May 20, 2017 as Kids to Parks Day in the City of Broken Arrow
End
Background:
The attached Proclamation, if approved, will declare May 20, 2017 as Kids to Parks Day in the City of Broken Arrow. The National Park Trust has designated May 20, 2017 as National Kids to Parks Day to encourage children and families to seek out a local or national park for a day of fun through active learning and building good healthy habits. We once again plan to accomplish these objectives through teaming up with the annual Camp Bandage event held at the Events Park (21101 E. 101st Street) on May 20th.

* Camp Bandage will start at 10am on May 20th and end at 3pm.
* The Parks and Recreation Department will be offering yard games for children and families of all ages to play during this annual event.
* Camp Bandage is a safety first focused event that helps children and adults learn about safety through interaction with first responders and other important safety organizations.
* The Parks and Recreation Department is a small part of this large event. The Broken Arrow Police Department and Fire Department will also be on site. These and other organizations will be offering fun activities for children and families while providing lifesaving information.
* This will be the second year, if approved, for National Kids to Parks Day in Broken Arrow.

We encourage citizens to come out and enjoy National Kids to Parks Day during Camp Bandage on May 20th.

Cost: Estimated at $100.00
