Background:
The Streets and Stormwter Department has requested and sought bids for three fabric covered salt storage building kits, one 65’ x 100’ size and two 55’ x 55’ sizes. Funds have been appropriated and are available in two separate Sales Tax Capital Improvement (STCI) Funds in the amount of $181,000. Remaining funds will be utilized by the Streets and Stromwater Department which will build the foundation with force labor while General Service’s Building Maintenance Division will assemble the buildings.
Bids were solicited from 10 building supply companies, three submitted bids. The bid from Guard All did not meet specifications in both size and material requirements. A&B Construction submitted the lowest bid for the 65’ x 100’ building and Clearspan Fabric, the lowest bid for two of the 55’ x 55’ buildings. Both vendor’s bids meet specifications.
Staff recommends that the Council award the most advantageous bid for one 65’ x 100’ building kit to A&B Construction and to Clearspan Fabric, for two 55’ x55’ building kits.
Cost: $83,339.44
