Consideration, discussion, and possible approval to purchase one (1) Full Sized Sport Utility Vehicle for the Police Department pursuant to the Oklahoma Statewide Contract
End
Background:
The Police Department recently researched Full Sized Sport Utility Vehicles (SUV's) for the new Emergency Management Director. The vendors deemed acceptable are identified on the attached bid tabulation from the Oklahoma State Contract (1000009318). The Police Department has identified the Chevrolet Tahoe as the preferred vehicle for purchase. Pursuant to the State Contract, Vance Chevrolet can provide the Chevrolet Tahoe with the identified options at $38,314.35. Other SUV's are available for purchase, including the Dodge Durango and the Ford Expedition.
The Police Department has indicated that the Tahoe is most advantageous due to the identified options and the need for a dual battery. In the past, the City has purchased full-sized Ford Expeditions for the Watch Commanders. The dual battery system is preferable to the Police Department.
Funds have been appropriated and are available in the Sales Tax Capital Improvement Fund in the amount of $36,070.86 and the Public Safety Sales Tax fund in the amount of $2,243.49 for the purchase of the vehicle.
The Police Department recommends that the Council approve the purchase of the Chevrolet Tahoe from Vance Chevrolet.
