Award of the lowest responsible bid to Voy Construction, and authorization to execute a construction contract for Fire Station No. 2 Foundation and Precast Wall Repairs (Project No. 143518)

Background:
Fire Station No. 2 has sustained damage to its exterior wall precast panel joints and concrete roof precast double tees on the southwest side/corner of the building. Two separate structural engineers were hired to inspect and report on the damage and the cause of the damage. BKL, Inc. has provided plans for repair of the damage that include Piers to be installed under the current foundation and joint repair.
The advertisements were on February 10 and February 17, 2017, and bids were opened on March 9, 2017. Two (2) bids were received. The low bidder was Voy Construction with a bid of $33,463.00. The engineer’s estimate was $19,488.00. The certified bid tabulation is attached. Staff recommends award of the Fire Station No. 2 Foundation and Precast Wall Repairs to Voy Construction in the amount of $33,463.00.
Funds for the work are from the Fire Public Safety Sales Tax.
Cost: $33,463.00
