Background:
Arbor Day is observed annually throughout the nation and the world. The purpose of Arbor Day is to recognize the importance of trees in our environment and to encourage all residents to support efforts to protect our trees and woodlands. The Council’s approval of the Arbor Week Proclamation is an important aspect of the City’s continued status as a Tree City U.S.A.
This year’s arbor celebration is planned to be held at Arrowhead Park on March 30, starting at 10:00 a.m., in the vicinity of the pond, located at the Northside of the park. Students from Oak Crest Elementary will be assisting with the Arbor Day tree planting ceremony.
