Presentation, discussion and possible approval of art work for painted power boxes to be located at Dallas, Commercial and Broadway Streets in the Rose District
End
Background:
City Staff is working with three local artists to provide draft drawings to paint the power boxes at the intersection of Dallas, Commercial and Broadway Streets on Main Street in the Rose District. These painted power boxes will provide a pop of color and public art to the Arts and Entertainment district. Painted power boxes are popping up in communities such as Atlanta, St. Louis, New Orleans and Glendale, California; to showcase unique public art within the community.
Each power box will have artwork that represents a rose theme. The City of Broken Arrow will provide the paint to be shared among the three artists. If the paint should ever peel or fade away, the boxes would be repainted to the standard grey paint. City staff is also looking into a vinyl wrap option of the proposed artwork.
City staff is seeking approval from the Downtown Advisory Board to move forward with this project and approve the art work for the painted power boxes to be located at Dallas, Commercial and Broadway Streets.
