Approval of and authorization to accept Liberty Mutual Insurance Company's offer to settle a claim for vehicle loss, declaring the vehicle surplus and releasing it to Liberty Mutual Insurance Company
End
Background:
A Police vehicle was involved in a collision on October 25, 2016. The vehicle, unit number 0645, was purchased on July 12, 2006 for $20,292.00. The unit had accumulated 104,702 miles at the time of the accident and is scheduled to be replaced at this time.

Liberty Mutual Insurance Company has determined the vehicle is totaled and made an offer to settle the vehicle loss for a total of $6,562.09 This total includes $3,572.09 for the vehicle itself and an additional $2,990.00 for parts and labor costs to transfer the police equipment to a new vehicle.

The Fleet Maintenance Division has determined the retail value of the vehicle based on the National Automotive Dealers Association (NADA) Price Report (also known as Blue Book) for this area to be $4,700.00. This is $1,127.91 more that the price Liberty Mutual is offering to settle on the vehicle. As the vehicle was in considerably less than clean (average or better) condition at the time of the accident, the Fleet Manager concurs that this is appropriate compensation for the vehicle and that the compensation offered for parts and labor to transfer installed police equipment is appropriate. Funds from this settlement will go into the Sales Tax Capital Improvement Fund.
