title

Approval to reject all competitive bids for Fire Department structural firefighting gear due to the inability to award the bid within the allotted timeframe and authorize rebidding

End

Background:

On November 16, 2016, the City received sealed bids from three different vendors for the purpose of purchasing approximately 25 sets of structural firefighting gear.  STCI project #173502 provided the funding to replace structural firefighting gear.  The Fire Department requested sample sets from each vendor for the purpose of inspection to ensure each set of gear met the specifications.  Due to production delays, the Fire Department did not receive manufactured sample sets from each vendor within 30 days of the bid opening. While waiting on sample sets to arrive, the 30-day selection deadline expired. As a result of awaiting the sample sets Fire Department management failed to timely manage the 30-day selection deadline.  Therefore, it is the recommendation of the Fire Department to reject all bids and immediately re-bid the project.
