Consideration, discussion, and possible approval of and authorization to execute Resolution No. 968 of the Council of the City of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, providing notice of and calling for a non-partisan general election, if needed, for the Council Members for Ward 1 and Ward 2, to be held on Tuesday, April 4, 2017; establishing the filing period; providing for said officers to be nominated by ward and elected at large for a term of four years; setting forth residency requirements; providing for absentee ballots in accordance with State Law; and providing that the Tulsa County Election Board is responsible for holding the election and certifying the results

Background:
The attached Resolution provides the statutory Notice of a Non-Partisan General Election scheduled for Tuesday, April 4, 2017. This Resolution establishes that the filing period and will begin at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, February 6, 2017, and will end at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 8, 2017. It identifies the Ward 1, Ward 2 Council Members as the subject of this General Election, and notes that the term of these two council seats is four (4) years.
Staff recommends that the Council approve Resolution No. 968 and authorize its execution. Following approval, an executed copy of the Resolution will be submitted to the Tulsa county Election Board in accordance with State Law.
