Background:

Mayor Craig Thurmond was first elected as City Councilmember in 2001. In 2012, he was elected as Mayor. During his time on the City Council, he has also served as Vice-Mayor twice. In April 2013 he began his fourth term.

City Councilmember Johnnie Parks was first appointed as a City Councilmember in 1978, was re-elected and served for 16 years. In addition to his time as an elected official, Mr. Parks was appointed to the Planning Commission. He served as a Commissioner for 16 years from 1995 to 2011. In April 2011, Councilmember Parks was re-elected to the City Council. In 2015, he began his seventh term.

As a result of their dedication to the citizens of Broken Arrow, it is appropriate to recognize their service with a service award pin. Mayor Thurmond is receiving a 15-year pin. Councilmember Parks is receiving a 35-year pin.
