title

Consideration, discussion, and possible preview of an Ordinance amending Chapter 24, Article 1, Section 24-29-Annual water rate increase evaluation required; repealing all ordinances to the contrary; and declaring an emergency

End

Background:

In September 2013, the Broken Arrow Municipal Authority entered into a contract with Black and Veatch, an internationally recognized professional engineering consultant firm with expertise in the design, operations, maintenance and management of public utility facilities and organizations, to perform a cost services analysis and a corresponding utility rate study.

This amended ordinance removes the specific timing provisions of the city ordinance and allows for the City Council to evaluate rate increases on an annual basis based upon the recommendations of the professional consultants, utilities director and the city manager.  Staff recommends that the ordinance be previewed and set for adoption at the next scheduled city council meeting.
