Background:
Fairfax Concrete Repair, Mill and Overlay is a 2011 General Obligation Bond project. Fairfax addition, located north of Washington Street and east of Garnett Road, has approximately 16,800 feet of asphaltic concrete and 6,200 feet of Portland cement concrete streets that are badly deteriorated. The project improvements were designed in-house by Engineering and Construction Department.
The project was advertised for bids on September 1 and 8, 2016. Bids were opened on September 27, 2016, and six (6) bids were received. The Certified Bid Tabulation is attached. The lowest responsible bidder was A&A Asphalt, Inc., with a proposal of $1,301,473.20. The engineer’s estimate was $1,381,370.50.
Staff recommends awarding the contract in the amount of $1,301,473.20 to A&A Asphalt, Inc.
Funding for the improvements will be from the 2011 Streets General Obligation Bond.
