Consideration, discussion, and possible approval of granting Air Evac Lifeteam to land and take off a helicopter at the Broken Arrow Police and Fire Training Facility for training purposes on October 6th through 8th, 2016
End
Background:
The Broken Arrow Fire Department will be hosting a training course on how to safely operate around an aircraft and how to setup a safe landing zone. The training will be held at the City’s Police and Fire Department training facility, specifically near the Police Shoot House. The helicopter that will be utilized for the course will be operated by Air Evac Lifeteam. Section 3.5-2 of the Broken Arrow Code of Ordinances, provides that no helicopter should take off from or land upon any land within the City limits except under certain conditions. Exception two of the ordinance allows such activity at a site that is specifically authorized by city council for such activity as a temporary use under such terms and conditions as the council may prescribe. The Fire Department is requesting that the Council grant Air Evac Lifeteam the authority to land and take off from the Police and Fire Department training facility on October 6th through 8th, 2016, for training purposes.
