Consideration, discussion, and possible preview of an ordinance amending the Broken Arrow Code, Chapter 2, Administration, Article XIV, Convention and Visitors' Bureau, Sec. 2-212 Appointments, specifically amending to include the staggering of terms for the Convention and Visitors' Bureau; repealing all ordinances to the contrary; and declaring an emergency
End

Background:
After Staff reviewed the updated ordinances that govern the Broken Arrow Convention and Visitors' Bureau ("CVB"), an update was requested. Staff is requesting that the CVB appointment schedule be repealed and request that the rules be incorporated into City ordinance. Specifically, incorporating the repealed Appointment schedule into the Broken Arrow Code of Ordinances.

Updates to the ordinance include the following: Sec. 2-212, should be amended to include "Appointments shall be for a staggered two-year term except for the year of 2016, position 3 shall be for a term of one year. Appointed members of the Broken Arrow Convention and Visitors' Bureau shall serve without compensation, and shall not hold or be candidates for an elective public office."

Implementing this update would provide a staggered term for the CVB. This proposed update to the ordinance would include the following staggered terms with an expiration of September 30th of the respective year:

POSITION TERM ENDS
1-Mayor 2017
2-Mayor 2017
3-At Large 2017
4-Ward 1 2018
5-Ward 2 2018
6-Ward 3 2018
7-Ward 4 2018

Cost: None
