Consideration, discussion, and possible preview of an amended Ordinance amending Chapter 22, Article IV Residential Development Fees, Section 22-64.- Fees; repealing all Ordinances to the contrary; and declaring an emergency

End

Background:

The “Residential Development Fee” was originally adopted for the purpose of improving and expanding public recreational facilities.  As Broken Arrow’s new residential construction continues, demand for public recreational facilities will undoubtedly continue to increase.  Residential Development Fee funds are used for the acquisition, purchase, development and improvement of public parks, playgrounds and recreational facilities located within the corporate limits of the City of Broken Arrow.  The original ordinance was adopted on December 18, 1978, and included a fees schedule.  The fee schedule was amended by Ordinance 2285 on June 19, 2000 and has remained the same ever since.

The current fees are: $165.00 per dwelling unit, plus $44.00 for each bedroom and $44.00 for each additional bedroom resulting from enlargement, expansion, remodeling or alteration of the existing home.

The proposed fees would result in an increase of 5.0% to $46.00 for each bedroom and would increase 5.0% to $46.00 for each additional bedroom resulting from enlargement, expansion, remodeling or alteration of the existing home.  The dwelling fee of $165.00 would remain unchanged.

The fees as listed in city ordinance 22-64 reflect the amounts of $100 per each dwelling unit plus $30 per each bedroom and $30 for each bedroom resulting from enlargement, expansion, remodeling or alteration of the existing home. The preview ordinance makes these changes to the amounts charged and amends the city ordinance to reflect the accurate charges.
