Title:

title

Consideration, discussion, and possible appointment of a Council member to co-sponsor the Youth City Council

End

Background:

The purpose of Broken Arrow Youth City Council (YCC) is to introduce its members to municipal government and increase their interest in and knowledge of civic engagement.

The Broken Arrow Youth City Council is currently a three-year program open to high school students living in the Broken Arrow fence line or those eligible to attend a high school in Broken Arrow.

The Youth City Council is mentored and sponsored by two Council members. Over the past several years, Councilor Johnnie Parks and former Councilor Scott Eudey have been the sponsors. Due to the vacancy created by the April 2023 election, this item is being brought before the Council to discuss appointing a Councilmember to co-sponsor with Councilor Parks. This was originally presented to City Council at the May 16, 2023, meeting and it was decided to wait until the open Council seat had been filled.
