Title:

title

Consideration, discussion, and possible approval of forming of a temporary working committee to discuss possible updates to sponsorship grant requests

End

Background:

In 2023, the Visit Broken Arrow Board established a temporary Grant Advisory Committee to review and revise the VBA grant program. During that process, the committee created a distinction between the traditional hotel-night grant rebate requests and community event (sponsorship) rebate requests.

While the hotel-night grant rebate program is well-defined and structured, the sponsorship rebate currently lacks clear guidelines, making it difficult to determine consistent or typical funding amounts as new requests are submitted.

VBA staff seeks approval to establish a new temporary working committee composed of three VBA Board members and two VBA staff. The committee would convene for one or two meetings with the goal of reviewing the current sponsorship rebate parameters, determining whether updates are warranted, and presenting its findings at the November VBA meeting. If approved, staff also recommends the appointment of three VBA Board members to serve on this committee.
