Title:
title
Consideration, discussion, and possible direction to the Administration to nominate one City Councilor, or an appointed designee, to the Broken Arrow Seniors Board to replace Councilor Johnnie Parks
End
Background:
As the Broken Arrow community continues to grow, quality-of-life organizations and initiatives are of utmost importance. The City of Broken Arrow currently manages user group agreements with six organizations that utilize city-owned facilities (Broken Arrow Seniors, Military History Center, ArtsOK, Broken Arrow Veterans Center, Museum Broken Arrow, and the Broken Arrow Genealogical Society).
The City is responsible for maintenance, upkeep, and upgrades to these facilities, pays for gas and electric utilities on behalf of the users, and also provides in-kind water and sewer services. As the city facility numbers grow, it’s important that we continue to focus and support these quality-of-life organizations and have an active part in their success. For this reason, the recommendation to the council is as follows:
1. Request that the Broken Arrow Seniors Board of Directors add two (2) council members (as approved by the full governing body) to the Board.
Councilor Johnnie Parks’ term on the Broken Arrow Seniors board ends December 31, 2023. The governing body will need to select another City Councilor to fill the open council member position on the Broken Arrow Seniors board.
