Background:
In order to allow the trees that will be a part of Streetscape Phase IV time to grow and mature to the desired level before the actual delivery and installation, Staff recommends that they be purchased prior to and separate from the public construction contract for the project. This purchase order arrangement was shown to be an effective method of ensuring that viable large trees, uniform in size and appearance, with an extended 5-year warranty period during the Rose District Streetscape Phase III project.
Staff proposes to purchase the 31 trees required for Phase IV using this procedure. The Select Trees quote is attached. Payment of the $12,398.50 deposit is on the City Council Claims List.
Cost: $33,527.00 ($12,398.50 deposit)
