Background:
The project was designed by Poe & Associates, Inc. for construction including rehabilitation and widening of the existing paving to five (5) lanes for Houston Street from Garnett Road to Olive Avenue with asphalt as well as full-depth patches as necessary. The project also includes construction of approximately 6,750 square yards of sidewalk, ADA curb ramps at intersections, concrete work at driveway returns, and new traffic signals, signage and pavement markings at the Houston Street and Olive Avenue intersection.
The project was advertised on June 19th, 2024. Bids were opened on July 10, 2024 with six (6) bids received and all being responsive. The Certified Bid Tabulation is attached. The bids submitted were composed of one hundred and thirty-seven (137) pay items to form the Total Base Bid. The lowest responsible bidder was Becco Contractors, LLC, with a Total Bid of $5,718,000.00. The engineer’s estimate for widening and improvement of this arterial mile was $6,470,422.30.
