Approval of and authorization to execute the purchase of fourteen (14) portable communication radios for the police department from L3 Harris Technologies Inc.

Background:
The Police Department is requesting City Council approval for the purchase of 14 Harris XL185P portable communications radios as well as replacements batteries and antennas. These new radios will be used to outfit the next academy class and to provide spares in the event of equipment failure. Harris and Motorola are the two most reputable manufacturers of public safety radios in the nation. Harris Technologies is in contract with the City of Norman as part of a large radio project during this fiscal year. This contract provides greatly reduced pricing and Harris extended that pricing to the City of Broken Arrow. This provided much lower prices per unit and allowed us to purchase more units with available funding.
Funds have been appropriated and are available in Police Department’s portion of Public Safety Sales Tax Fund.
