Background:
The Adams Creek Basin is located in northeast Broken Arrow and crosses over the southeast boundary of the City of Tulsa. The portion of the basin that resides within the City of Broken Arrow is owned and operated by the Broken Arrow Municipal Authority (BAMA) and all sanitary sewer flows from this basin flow to the Lynn Lane Wastewater Treatment Plant (LLWWTP). BAMA selected Garver, LLC in 2021 to examine the Adams Creek Basin located within the City of Broken Arrow city limits to determine the best way to handle the flow from this basin which naturally drains in the opposite direction of the LLWWTP and therefore has to be pumped over the ridge to the County Line Trunk Sewer. Pumping this amount of wastewater requires multiple lift stations, which require significant maintenance, and often cause sewer lines/manholes to degrade more quickly. The original project between BAMA and Garver looked at the possibility of adding an Adams Creek WWTP. This option would allow for multiple lift stations to be relieved and would require fewer capacity increases at the LLWWTP. This was presented to BAMA on August 13, 2026 and BAMA decided to move forward with this option. The study also investigated ways to optimize the current Adams Creek Basin Sewershed to account for future growth in this area and allow for a phased approach to building a new WWTP.
The Adams Creek Basin crosses over the boundary into Tulsa’s service area so RMUA has decided to to expand the original study with Garver to include a larger service area and look into options of building a future joint, RMUA owned wastewater treatment plant to prepare for future grow...
