Background:
After Staff reviewed the current ordinances that govern the Broken Arrow Convention and Visitors' Bureau ("CVB") an update is being requested. Staff has requested that the CVB bylaws be repealed and request that the rules be incorporated into City ordinance. Specifically, incorporating the repealed Bylaws into the Code of Ordinances, Chapter 2, which governs the CVB.
At their November 9, 2015 meeting, the Broken Arrow Convention and Visitors' Bureau reviewed the staff recommended changes to the CVB ordinances. The CVB approved the recommended changes, including incorporating the repealed CVB bylaws into this ordinances.
Updates to these ordinances include the following:
Sec. 2-213, should be amended to include the Oklahoma Constitution and State Laws which includes specifics for any city ordinance, governing boards, commissions, trusts or other agencies whose membership is appointed or confirmed by the city council. Sec. 2-214 which outlines the organization of the CVB should be amended to include vacancies, eligibility, term and payment of reasonable expenses incurred by CVB members. Sec. 2-216 which identifies the effective date of article should be removed. Sec. 2-217 which identifies selection of officers should be amended to include CVB Chairman and Vice-Chair...
