Background:
Unit 1781, a 2017 Ford Explorer Police Pursuit Vehicle utilized by the City of Broken Arrow Police Department was involved in a collision with a citizen vehicle on November 11, 2025. The unit was struck by a driver exiting a private driveway and entering the roadway with a failure to yield to oncoming traffic. The resulting collision caused considerable damage to unit 1781, including a bent frame.
State Farm insurance declared this unit to be a total loss and made an initial offer to settle for $12,075.73 to make the loss whole for claim number 36-92M5352.
Staff worked with a 3rd party vendor, ACM to recover a compensatory amount that better reflects the actual value of the loss of this unit, claim 615271. ACM negotiated with State Farm insurance for loss of additional equipment, labor, and loss of use. ACM charges a percentage of the additional funds collected as their fee. Ultimately, the vendor was able to negotiate a total claim from State Farm for the amount of $40,730.16, leaving total compensation paid to the City of Broken Arrow for this loss in the amount of $25,702.94
Staff recommends approval to accept this offer from ACM.
