Background:
Vice Mayor Gillespie would like to discuss with the governing body the fireworks permit fee, and possibly remove the permit fee or make it an initial upfront fee for first-time applicants.
For initial applicants, the resident would apply for a permit and pay the permit fee. The applicant will receive a fireworks permit and documentation about fire safety & rules.
For subsequent years, the applicant would reapply to confirm their address. Since the applicant is already in our system, the applicant would not owe additional fireworks permit fees. The resident would receive a fireworks permit and a reminder of the rules & fire safety.
In an effort to better serve our citizens, staff is requesting input from council on the fireworks permit fee.
