Approval of and authorization to purchase forty-two handheld radios from L3Harris Technologies Inc. for the use by the City of Broken Arrow’s Fire Department pursuant to the Oklahoma Statewide Contract and NASPO ValuePoint Pricing

End

Background:

The City of Broken Arrow’s Fire Department has requested to upgrade to their existing portable radios and have been given an option from L3Harris to trade-in their current radios with $6,211.96 in credit per unit towards the purchase of 42 radios (model XL-400P). These new radios are National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Compliant and built for the extreme environments in which the Broken Arrow Fire Department operates. The current radios in service are reaching their end of life and replacement options must be considered at this time.

The purchase will be facilitated through the use of the Oklahoma Statewide Contract, SW1053H and National Association of State Procurement Officials (NASPO) ValuePoint Pricing.  Section 2-27 of the Broken Arrow Code provides that formal bidding is not required when these items can be purchased at a price not exceeding that set by the state purchasing agency. All equipment on the State Contract has been competitively bid and purchase by the City is authorized by State Law.
