Approval of and authorization to execute Agreement for Professional Consulting Services with Cross Timbers Consulting for the design of drainage improvement plans in the Tucson Village II Subdivision (Project Number SW26200)

Background:
Citizens along East Winston Street in the Tucson Village Subdivision are experiencing excessive runoff and erosion along their property.
The Engineering plans for the subdivision were signed “No Exceptions Taken” in April of 2020. The original drainage plans show a drainage swale at the rear of the lots along East Winston Street in an overland drainage easement. Approximately 11 acres of offsite flow from the south flows onto the properties along East Winston Street. City staff conducted a site visit to see if a cause of the excessive runoff could be identified. Once on site, it was apparent that the drainage swale designed in the April 2020 Engineering plans was not constructed and is possibly the reason for the excessive runoff flowing toward these properties along East Winston Street.
Funds for this contract are 2018 General Obligation Bond Proposition 6 funds and were recommended by the Drainage Advisory Committee and approved by Council.
This area flows to the Broken Arrow Creek Watershed.
