Title:

title

Consideration, discussion, and possible appointment of three (3) representatives and one alternate representative to the Indian Nations Council of Governments (INCOG) Board of Directors and one representative and one alternate to the INCOG General Assembly, each for a two-year term beginning in January 2025

End

Background:

The City of Broken Arrow is allocated three (3) positions on the Indian Nations Council of Governments (INCOG) Board of Directors. Each representative serves a two-year term commencing the first day in January of each odd numbered year. Generally, because three Broken Arrow City Council members serving on the Board of Directors would result in a public meeting posting by the City, the designated representatives have historically been two City Council members and the City Manager, with a third City Council Member as the alternate.

As a participating member of INCOG, the City of Broken Arrow may also appoint one elected official as a representative to the General Assembly.

At the December 6, 2022 City Council meeting, Mayor Debra Wimpee, Vice Mayor Christi Gillespie, and City Manager Michael Spurgeon were appointed as INCOG board members, and Councilor Lisa Ford was appointed as the alternate for terms commencing January 1, 2023.  At the same meeting, former Councilor Scott Eudey was appointed as the General Assembly representative, and Michael Spurgeon as the alternate. On May 16, 2023, Councilor Ford was appointed as the General Assembly member for the remainder of Mr. Eudey’s term.
