title

Approval of and authorization to execute Resolution No. 1062-Revised, a Resolution requesting assistance from the Oklahoma Department of Transportation in regard to constructing an industrial road to serve the Alfa Laval facility

End

Background:

On November 7, 2017, the City adopted Resolution No. 1062 in order to request necessary funds to construct the entire half-mile of Nashville Street, the proposed industrial access road intended to serve Alfa Laval and other future industrial facilities.  However, the City of Broken Arrow and the State of Oklahoma have mutually agreed to construct Nashville Street in two (2) distinct phases that coincide with Alfa Laval’s two phase construction approach.  This two phase construct approach for Nashville Street better allows the State of Oklahoma to use current available funds in the state’s industrial access road program and affords the City an opportunity to begin construction shortly after the first of the year as opposed to seeking other state funding sources that may require longer lead times due to specific application deadline dates.

The first phase of construction will be more than adequate to sufficiently allow the industrial access road to serve the proposed Alfa Laval facility.  State funds are expected to be available by February 1, 2018.

Attached is a revised Resolution No. 1062 to more accurately represent the phased construction and the requested funds for construction of Phase I.
