End
Background:
The City of Broken Arrow would like to recognize citizens Bill Bowlin, Patti Pitcock, Jill Fitts and Jerry Farlin along with City employees Thor Rooks and Tanner Wilburn for their life-saving and heroic efforts on October 4, 2018. During a pickleball tournament at the Central Park Community Center a participant suffered an apparent heart attack.
Mr. Bowlin contacted 911 as soon as the incident occurred. Mr. Farlin responded by checking for a pulse on the individual and declared CPR was needed. Ms. Pitcock started CPR followed by rescue breaths. Jill Fitts also assisted with rescue breaths. Mr. Farlin took over CPR and applied an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), which Mr. Wilburn obtained from the front desk area of the facility. Mr. Rooks performed CPR and utilized the AED. The Broken Arrow Fire Department arrived on scene and took over lifesaving procedures. Due to the efforts of these individuals, the man’s life was saved.
