Review of bids received and award the most advantageous bid to Warren Cat for the purchase of a 2016 Caterpillar AP555F asphalt laydown machine for the Street Division
..End
EBackground:
The Street Division requested and sought bids for an asphalt laydown machine. Nine (9) vendors were solicited to bid on this equipment and a total of four (4) bids were received. In addition, two (2) of four (4) vendors also submitted bids for the same equipment under the state contract and those bid prices are shown in the bid tabulation. All bids failed to meet the complete bid requirements therefore each bid was reviewed and considered as a part of the selection process. Since an asphalt laydown machine is considered specialized equipment in the City's fleet, important factors such as operator usability, equipment workability, availability of parts, training and serviceability were important considerations in determining the selection of the equipment/vendor. With those considerations in mind, Staff recommends that the Council award the most advantageous bid to Warren Cat for the 2016 Caterpillar AP555F asphalt laydown machine.

The total price for the asphalt laydown machine is $358,084.00. The options selected are reflected in the attached bid tabulation. Funds for this purchase have been appropriated and are available in the Street and Alley Fund in the available amount of $425,000.00 (Project No. 165317, Acct. No. 034-5300-431.70-03).
