title
Acceptance of the Drainage Advisory Committee's recommendation to expend $15,000.00 of 2018 the General Obligation Bonds, Proposition 6 funds to survey drainage concerns in the Glen Eagles IV and Glen Eagles Amended Subdivisions and develop preliminary engineering plans (Case No. 23-009)
End

Background:
The proposed project is located in the Glen Eagles IV and Glen Eagles Amended Subdivisions between 3rst and 41st and 193rd and 209th Ave.
The applicant in Glen Eagles Amended subdivision is experiencing drainage issues in their backyard. The water from Glen Eagles IV detention pond is outletted behind the properties to the west in Amended Glen Eagles subdivision. The drainage water is a nuisance to the neighbors and has caused damage in the form of erosion and rotten fence posts.
The stormwater flows in the same direction as it did before it was developed. The previous land use was a golf course. The stormwater flows from the detention basin in Glen Eagles IV north west through Amended Glen Eagles and Steeple Chase. The stormwater has down cut on the private property west of the pond. Then it disperses into shallow concentrated flow through the residential backyards and a PSO easement. The slope of the drainage path is relatively flat, about 1.0%. The backyards also have high and low spots causing the water to pond and drain slowly. The ponding and sheet flow has damaged wooden fences in the backyards.
The proposed project is located in the Spunky Creek Basin. Therefore, this project will utilize the unnamed funds in Proposition 6 of the 2018 GO Bond.
On November 27, 2023 the Drainage Advisory Committee reviewed and recommends to City Council to approve the request for $15,000.00 in 2018 GO Bond, Proposition 6 funds to survey drainage concerns in the Glen Eagles IV and Glen Eagles Amended Subdivisions and develop preliminary engineering plans (Case No. 23-009).
