Approval of bids received, award of the lowest responsible bid to Ark Wrecking Company of Oklahoma, Inc., and approval of and authorization to execute a construction contract for demolition of the former Assembly of God Church owned by the City of Broken Arrow and located at 305 North Main Street (Project No. 161714)

Background:
At a special meeting on February 10, 2016, the Broken Arrow City Council approved the purchase of the property at 305 North Main Street, the former Assembly of God Church, including an abandoned two-story building that had been used for a church and other purposes. An asbestos survey of the building was completed March 16, 2016, and the conclusion was that there were no asbestos-containing materials in the structure. Engineering and Construction Department Staff advertised for demolition of the building on April 13 and 20, 2016, and held a mandatory pre-bid meeting on April 28, 2016. Bids were opened on May 5, 2016. Six (6) bids were received, but one was rejected because the bidder did not return the entire bid book as instructed.

The low bid of $87,140.00 was submitted by Ark Wrecking Company of Oklahoma, Inc. The engineer's estimate was $365,172.00. The Certified Bid Tabulation is attached. Staff recommends award of the contract to Ark Wrecking Company of Oklahoma, Inc., in the amount of $87,140.00.
Funding for this project is from Sales Tax Capital Improvements.
