Consideration, possible approval of and authorization to execute an Employment Contract for Professional Services with Dennis Sagely as Alternate Judge for the City of Broken Arrow's Municipal Court
End
Background:
On March 22, 2016, the Judicial Nominating Committee met to consider the positions of Presiding Judge and Alternate Judge of the Broken Arrow Municipal Court. The Committee unanimously voted to recommend that Dennis A. Sagely be reappointed as Alternate Judge. Pursuant to Section 14-6.1 of the Broken Arrow Code, the Mayor may reappoint the sitting Judges or request that the Committee submit the names of three additional nominees for each position. At the April 5, 2016 City Council meeting, the Mayor re-appointed Dennis Sagely as Alternate Judge of the Broken Arrow Municipal Court.

The City's relationship with the Alternate Judge is generally handled contractually. The attached Employment Contract for Professional Services is consistent with agreements utilized in prior years. Generally, Staff will recommend that the Judges receive an increase in the same percentage as other non-unionized employees. This contract term,
Staff is recommending an increase in the Alternate Judge's base salary by 2%, for a total of $191.29 per each court docket. The contract will expire on May 2, 2018. Staff recommends that the Council approve the Employment Contract and approve its execution.

Cost: $191.29 for each court docket
