Presentation on the Proposed 2018 General Obligation Bond Program
End
Background:
On February 22nd, 26th and 27th of this year, City staff under the direction of the City Manager and City Council held public input meetings on the proposed 2018 General Obligation Bond Program. Staff made presentations concerning the overall program itself, as well as established individual breakout stations for the specific proposed propositions. In accordance with the presentations, the City Manager reached out to a small cross-section of residents to form an ad-hoc advisory committee to help the City in its efforts to reduce the originally proposed GO Bond Program’s total amount of $281,320,000 worth of projects to approximately $211,000,000.
This committee met on March 27, 2018 and reviewed each project as well as discussed the results of the public meetings contained in a summary report prepared by our consultant, sixPR. The committee added or slightly modified a few critical projects that the public identified in the meetings as well as successfully reduced the overall amount of the program to a current value of $222,520,000. In order to reach the desired goal, staff still needs to reduce the projects by about $10,000,000.
The following presentation is to update the Council on the progress, as well as request additional input on the final steps necessary.
