Consideration, discussion, and possible approval of and authorization to execute Resolution No. 1779, a resolution authorizing the closure of South Ash Avenue over Union Pacific Railroad
End
Background:
As part of the 2026 GO Bond, expansion to the Rose District Plaza with improvements to the grain silo, farmers market, community events, and downtown amenities was approved by the voters The proposed resolution is to close Ash Avenue across the UPRR Right-of-Way between West El Paso Street and West Fort Worth Street. This would be a one block closure and traffic would be directed onto additional side streets. The closing of Ash Ave. will still keep the public parking lot for Rose District Parking on the north side of the UPRR railroad tracks open to the public. A future project may include realignment of the entry and additional improvements to better serve the Rose District.
Entry into the adjacent AVB Bank property will remain open and additional improvements are proposed for a new entry drive to the north off Ash Ave.
