Approval of and authorization to destroy police fleet unit number 0663 (a 2006 KZ-JAG RV trailer, VIN #4EZTS322965095399), a travel trailer acquired by the City of Broken Arrow from the Federal Emergency Management Agency after hurricane Katrina

Background:

We are seeking approval for the destruction of the above cited travel trailer due to the following reasons:

It has exceeded its viable lifespan. It was acquired in 2006.

                     The roof leaks.

Trailers like this are well known to have detrimental levels of formaldehyde. We believe we cannot safely send this vehicle to auction.

It is anticipated the trailer will have to be taken to a “car crusher” or a landfill for destruction and staff is planning to do so, pending approval. Costs for this are not presently known but are estimated at approximately one-thousand dollars($1,000.00).

Cost:                                                                $0

Funding Source:                     Public Safety Sales Tax

Requested By:                      Brandon C. Berryhill, Chief of Police
