Background:

This ordinance creates Section 16-50 of the Broken Arrow Code of Ordinances under Chapter 16 - Offenses-Miscellaneous, Article II. - Offenses Against Public Authority, to make it unlawful for any unauthorized person to activate or attempt to activate an outdoor warning siren, or to tamper with such a system in a way that could cause unauthorized activation or impair its function. It defines key terms, including “outdoor warning siren” and “authorized person,” and sets penalties of up to a $500 fine, sixty (60) days in jail, or both, for violations. The Ordinance includes exemptions for City employees and contractors acting within their official duties or under proper supervision and those conducting routine testing or maintenance.
