Background:
Ms. Peggy Brooks, a resident of Broken Arrow who resides in Melinda Park Subdivision and serves as the Project Sponsor, contacted the Streets and Stormwater Department requesting the removal of traffic calming devices (speed humps) on 61st Place between 117th East Avenue and 120th East Avenue in the Melinda Park subdivision. A petition for removal was circulated and 75% of the required signatures were obtained from citizens living on property adjacent to the street.
The request to remove the traffic calming measures was in accordance with the City’s Traffic Calming Policy. Due to compliance with the policy, Staff recommends that the Council authorize removal of the traffic calming measures in this location.
