Background:
The 37th Street (209th East Avenue) Improvements from Houston Street (81st Street South) to Albany Street (61st Street South) is a 2011 Streets GO Bond project. The Bond issue calls for widening the two (2) miles of roadway to three lanes. The south mile of the project (from Kenosha to Houston) was an unnamed 2004 GO Bond issue project that was designed by MKEC Engineering, Inc., but construction was not funded. The Broken Arrow Public Schools has announced that they will build a new elementary school at the northwest corner of 37th Street and Kenosha Street, to be opened to students in August 2017. Because of the need to have the roadway improvements at the school site completed by that date, and because of their prior experience on the project, MKEC was selected to complete the design of the two miles of roadway. The engineers agreed to accelerate the roadway design to allow bidding to occur in September 2016.

Engineering and Construction Department prepared the attached agreement with MKEC Engineers, Inc., in the amount of $238,100.00. Funding for the design and construction work will be from the 2011 Streets GO Bond.
