Background:
The Fire Department is requesting to start the process of re-mounting and re-furbishing our 2018 AEV ambulances. Council approved $540,000 of American Recovery Plan Act (ARPA) funds for remounting the three (3) 2018 AEV ambulances in the FY 2023 Budget. The Fire Department's goal is to start one re-mount now, then send the next 2018 ambulance to be re-mounted when the first ambulance returns. Each re-mount has an anticipated turnaround timeframe of 90-120 days once the unit has been delivered to SERVS.
The Broken Arrow Fire Department developed a plan in 2017 to purchase twelve (12) ambulances over the course of 4-5 years. Replacing the cab/chassis and re-furbishing our existing patient boxes/compartments will allow the Fire Department to refurbish these ambulances to like-new status for significantly less than a traditional total replacement cost. The cost for re-mounting this first ambulance is approximately 35% less than purchasing new, based on the cost of the initial purchase ...
