Background:

Communities such as Broken Arrow which receive Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds are uniquely situated to positively impact housing opportunities.  The Fair Housing Amendments Act of 1988 strengthens the mandate to each community to prohibit discriminatory practices and promote fair housing practices.

The attached Resolution recognizes the importance of CDBG funds received by Broken Arrow and recognizes the mandate to communities to promote fair housing practices and celebrates 50 years of opening doors. The Resolution declares April 2018 as “Fair Housing Month” in the City of Broken Arrow and is presented for Council consideration.
