Background:
The City of Broken Arrow plans to replace the current natural gas-powered Generac generator at Tiger Hill, which is 20 years old and in need of an engine replacement, with a new Caterpillar C7.1 PGAM diesel-powered emergency back-up generator. This replacement unit includes automatic transfer switch (ATS), startup, and commissioning services as part of the proposal.
For this purchase, it is recommended to utilize Sourcewell, a procurement resource for government agencies. Vendors contracted through Sourcewell have already undergone a competitive procurement process, ensuring the best pricing for governmental entities while meeting the necessary criteria for competitive bidding. This request is provided under Sourcewell Contract #092222-CAT.
Maintenance Services supports using the Sourcewell Purchasing Cooperative over the traditional bid process, as it offers significant savings in both time and costs associated with preparing RFPs and bids. The Fleet Department recommends proceeding with this purchase under the Sourcewell contract.
