Background:
The project is a 2018 GO Bond Proposition 1 project and was designed by CEC for construction including rehabilitation and widening of the existing paving to five (5) lanes on Aspen Avenue from Jasper Street north to the Tucson Street intersection. The project also includes construction of sidewalk, concrete work at driveway returns, storm sewer, waterline and new signage, striping and pavement markings on Aspen Avenue from Jasper Street to Tucson Street.
The project was advertised on July 7, 2026. Bids were opened on July 28th, 2026 with six (6) bids received and all being responsive. The Certified Bid Tabulation is attached. The bids submitted were composed of one-hundred and eight (108) pay items to form the Total Base Bid. The lowest responsible bidder was Cherokee Pride Construction, Inc., with a Total Bid of $4,781,011.15. The engineer’s estimate for improvement of this mile of arterial street was $6,425,832.00.
