Background:

In order to make necessary revisions requested by Engineering & Construction Department staff for purposes of bidding the 37th Street widening improvements for the north mile of this project, from Kenosha to Albany, staff negotiated a design amendment with MKEC Engineering, Inc., the consulting firm responsible for design. The revisions include the following: modification of grading, riprap, and concrete slope lining at two drainage structures to improve stream bed and bank stability and comply with United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) requirements  for permitting, modification of downstream channel grading limits to reflect current ground topography at on drainage structure, modification of backslope grading in two locations to avoid utility conflict with existing force main sanitary sewer, submission of USACE permitting application for two blue line stream crossings, and miscellaneous updates to address changed field conditions that have occurred during the design process.

Staff recommends approval of this design amendment.
