Ratification of the 2024-2025 Traffic Safety Enforcement Grant with the Oklahoma Highway Safety Office

Background:

The Police Department has been awarded a grant from the Oklahoma Highway Safety Office in the amount of $81,992.00. Funding will be utilized in the following purpose areas: (1) Overttime for General Traffic Enforcement, (2) Overtime for Car Seat Checks, (3) Puchased of qty. 2 Lidars, and (4) required training from OHSO.

 

This grant will provide funds to allow Officers for overtime hours to enforce traffic safety and child restraint inspection stations in support of State and National goals to increase seatbelt and child restraint use, and to decrease the number of fatalities and injuries caused by unsafe driving in our communities. The equipment purchase of Lidars will give our officers tools to help identify driving violations. The training required by OHSO is added to send personnel to courses in support of the grant goals and objectives.
