Approval and authorization to execute a Service Agreement with Cintas for Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) Machines
End
Background:
An AED, or automatic external defibrillator, is used to help those experiencing a sudden cardiac arrest. AED machines are easy to use medical devices that can deliver an electrical shock, or defibrillation, if necessary, to help reestablish an effective heart rhythm.
The city currently has 34 facilities which do not have an AED machine, or do not have a maintenance program in place with Cintas for current AED machines. The city has been providing first aid and CPR training opportunities for current employees and during the 2023-2024 budget process, funding was placed in the budget to purchase AED machines for facilities which did not have an AED machine.
This contract provides for continual maintenance and upkeep by Cintas for the term of the contract, provides replacement supplies in the event of expiration or use, and centralizes billing functions for AED machines used in city facilities to the HR Department. Based on a rebate program Cintas has in place, the city will also receive a rebate for replacement of various machines currently in use that are either not maintained by Cintas or outdated and need replacement.
Cost: $99 per unit per month, $39,000 annually
Funding Source: 1101102 540330 (HR Department budget Other Rental)
